Why can't my students log in to Sparx using their Google/Microsoft account?

        Article summary

If a student can't log in with their Google/Microsoft account, try the following things:

Check the student's email address in Reader matches their school email

You can check this by going to the student's Details page. If this is incorrect, it will need to be updated on your school's MIS, and this will then be updated on Reader the following day.

Check the student's email address is correct on their Google/Microsoft account

If students see the following error message make sure the email address showing in Sparx Reader is the same as the one linked to their Google or Microsoft account.

If the address in the error message is correct:

        • Update the email address for the student in your school's MIS. These details will update automatically overnight, or you can perform a manual sync to bring the changes into Sparx Maths more quickly

If the address in the error message is incorrect:

        • Check all email addresses on the student's SSO profile. If using Microsoft, you will need to check this field in particular:

Unlink email addresses already in use

If the student gets a message saying their email address is already in use or that an account already exists, please ask the Maths Team to go to the student's details in Student Manager on the Sparx Maths site, and unlink their SSO account using the Unlink button, then ask them to try logging in again. This will enable Sparx to refresh the link between their login credentials and their Sparx account.

If the student has not logged in for a long period of time e.g. 2 months (this can be found on their Student Details page), you may need  to refresh the link between their login credentials and their Sparx account as per the above instructions.
