      What is Sparx Reader training?

        Article summary

This is a set of interactive training modules for all teachers

All staff will be presented with their own set of training modules when they log in. This training is separated into two sections:

        • Level 1: Essential training
        • Level 2: Using Sparx Reader

They are a mix of short videos and interactive tasks designed to teach you about the 'why' behind Sparx Reader and how to get the most out of the site.

We would encourage every member of staff to complete at least the essential training, which should take around 15 minutes. The second level will also give you great tips on how to use Sparx Reader, which should take a further 20 minutes to watch.

The modules do not need to be completed in one session so can be done whenever is convenient. It can be useful, however, to gather all your staff together to discuss what you've learned and address any queries. If you do not do the training together, we strongly suggest you set the department your own deadline by which they should complete the training.

You can check your own progress by clicking on your name in the top right hand corner.

You can also check others have completed their training

You can see how many modules each teacher has completed under More > Staff Manager

The training modules are always available

When a new staff member is added to your Sparx site they will automatically be prompted to complete their training modules and, if you ever want to revisit any modules, you can find them by clicking on your name in the top right-hand corner of your site.

Remember: to get the most out of Sparx for both you and your students, complete your training before setting any homework.

There is further CPD available under Reading Matters

If you, your team or even your whole school would like further CPD about the pedagogy behind reading please make use of the Reading Matters course on your site.
