Why can't my students log in?

        Article summary

If a student is unable to log in as you would expect, check the following common scenarios that may apply:

Does the student exist within your Sparx site?

If the student is new to your school or has recently been added to a new class within your MIS, they might not yet have been synced into your Sparx Reader site. Sparx syncs with your MIS every night so any changes should be taken into account through this. We recommend searching the student's name in Sparx Reader to check if they exist within your school site.

If a student has not been synced across from your MIS as expected, please contact us with the student's initials and class at readersupport@sparx.co.uk and we can look into this further for you.

Are they logging into the correct school site?

        • Check that students are logging in to the correct school where it says You're logging into Sparx at School Name
        • If the school is incorrect, it can be changed by clicking the blue Not your school? text:

Are they trying to log in before they have created their account?

If your student is new to Sparx, they will need to create an account before they are able to use Sparx for the first time. If they have not done this, they won't be able to log in.

When logging in for the first time, students can click on the New student? text, which will allow them to set up their account for both Sparx Reader and Sparx Maths.

More information about how students set up their accounts can be found on our Sparx Maths Support Centre: Setting up a new student account

Are they using the correct date of birth when creating their account?

        • When students first create their account they need to use their date of birth, so check they are typing this correctly
        • Dates of birth are taken from your school's MIS, so if they are still having problems then check it is saved correctly in your MIS
