When they are a Gold Reader, a student can add a book to their library in 2 ways:
- using the camera on their device to scan the barcode on the back of the book
- manually entering the ISBN of the book
If you or your students are experiencing issues in adding a book through Gold Reader, you can use the following steps to help you:
Make sure you are entering the correct number
- ISBNs are usually 13 digits long and sit within the barcode.
Make sure you are entering the ISBN for the specific book and not for the whole series
- ISBNs are assigned to a whole volume or series of books as they are sold as products so if they are only available as a set, the whole series will get one ISBN
- In the example image below, because it's a book from a box set/series, the 2 at the front means of the ISBN means it's no.2 in that series and the ISBN will be the same for the two books.
- The individual book ISBN should be on the inside page where the publisher/copyright info is. (Sometimes it shows two ISBNs, one for hardback and one for paperback.)
