Why can't my student add their book to Gold Reader?

When they are a Gold Reader, a student can add a book to their library in 2 ways: 

1. using the camera on their device to scan the barcode on the back of the book 
2. manually entering the ISBN of the book 

If you or your students are experiencing issues in adding a book through Gold Reader, you can use the following steps to help you: 

Make sure you are entering the correct number

• ISBNs are usually 13 digits long and sit within the barcode.

Make sure you are entering the ISBN for the specific book and not for the whole series

• ISBNs are assigned to a whole volume or series of books as they are sold as products so if they are only available as a set, the whole series will get one ISBN
• In the example image below, because it's a book from a box set/series, the 2 at the front means of the ISBN means it's no.2 in that series and the ISBN will be the same for the two books. 
• The individual book ISBN should be on the inside page where the publisher/copyright info is. (Sometimes it shows two ISBNs, one for hardback and one for paperback.)
