How does the timer work when students answer questions?

        Article summary

When a student answers a question, they are given a timer for how long they have to answer the question. There are a few reasons that timers exist for questions in Sparx Reader, including:

        • To ensure students are actively engaged with their reading.
        • To minimise the likelihood of them cheating.
        • To minimise the likelihood of having time to skim the text and not carefully reading.

There are two different question types that have different timers:

        • Multiple choice style questions have a timer of 50 seconds
        • Find the sentence style questions have a timer of 120 seconds

This timer is fixed and does not change based on level, and cannot be adjusted for an individual student.
